54550 - Family Geocaching
Embark on a special mission to find hidden treasures in the park! Hand-held GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) units will be used to locate the treasures, or “caches” in this family-friendly adventure. This is a free, drop-in activity, so show up anytime between 2pm-4:30pm and we'll show you how to use a GPS unit and set you on your course. Supplies are limited. No experience necessary. Program sponsored by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Important Information
After registering, you will receive confirmation from Venture Outdoors. Once confirmed, we will send you an information sheet that tells you meeting times and places, directions, and a list of what to wear and to bring. Participants provide their own transportation and meals unless otherwise noted.  Please read our Frequently Asked Questions page for more information about our Activities.

Participants are required to sign an Acknowledgement of Risk Form for each Venture Outdoors activity they attend. Please click here to download the form.

Each activity has a difficulty ranking, and we do our best to describe the format as much as possible so that you can get an idea of whether it’s something that’s suitable for you. Below we’ve included a detailed list of all of our activities' levels of difficulty.
 
Levels of Difficulty
Relaxed Relaxed: Short distances at a slow pace; Generally flat terrain, well defined trails; No prior activity experience is necessary; Perfect start for beginners; Not too physically challenging.
Relaxed Easy: Short distances at a slow pace; Relatively flat terrain, well defined trails, may involve some hills; No prior activity experience is necessary; Perfect start for beginners; Not too physically challenging.
Relaxed Moderate: Varying distances at a steady pace; Varying terrain, generally established trails; Some prior experience in the activity is required; Only for those in good physical condition; Physically challenging.
Relaxed Advanced: Fast-paced over a short distance or steady-paced over a long distance; Varying terrain, may include off-trail sections, rough spots, unexpected obstacles; Prior experience in the activity is required; Only for those in good physical condition; Physically challenging.
Relaxed Strenuous: Faster-paced over a short distance or fast-paced over a long distance; Difficult terrain, will include off-trail sections, rough spots and unexpected obstacles; Prior experience in the activity is required; Only for those in excellent physical condition; Most physically challenging.
