1. Trail Mix - Town Hall with a Grand View
Thursday, July 19
5:30 PM
Pavilion Amphitheatre at Grandview Park
RSVP: 412.255.0654 or
TownHall@ventureoutdoors.org
The undisputed best view in Pittsburgh does not only offer a
"grand view" of the downtown skyline, but also boasts a beautiful
scenic park to boot!
Join us for our 3rd Town Hall meeting. This segment’s topic:
the vision and planning behind the Grand View Scenic Byway Park
Initiative.
The Grand View Scenic Byway Park (GVSBP), created in December
2005, includes a PA State Scenic Byway anchored by Grandview
Avenue, as well as over 280 acres of open space that wraps from
Grandview Park all the way around to the backside of Mt.
Washington. This Byway is one of the top tourist destinations in
the region with over 1 million people coming each year to enjoy
the views from Grandview. It includes existing parks and
recreation facilities, as well as hundreds of acres of
undeveloped
space that is currently inaccessible to the public. Find
out more about the GVSBP and the Mt. Washington CDC
by clicking here.

2. Venture Outdoors Activity Spotlight
Friday, July 20
Fireworks Paddle
Once the Pirates game is over, it's time to sit back, relax and
enjoy the Fireworks from a front row seat. You will feel all the
BOOMS and POPS rush through your body as the fireworks vibrate
atmosphere and water. We will take a leisurely paddle up stream
and as the sun sets we will float back down to the Point to take
our place in the front row for the fireworks display.
Kayak Pittsburgh: under the 6th Street bridge
8:00 PM - 10:00 PM
$25.00 member, $50.00 non-member
Saturday, July 21
Women's Self Defense Hike
Whether wandering the woods or on an urban adventure, personal
safety should be something we prepare for just like choosing the
right boots and gear. We start with an easy - moderate 2
mile hike through Highland Park followed by a one hour self
defense workshop. The self defense workshop will be led by a
female instructor, Allison McGee, a 3rd degree black belt.
Highland Park
5:30 PM - 8:00 PM
$10.00 member, $20.00 non-member
Sunday, July 29

Expect a great tour of the Montour Trail with plenty of
interesting stops along the way. 3 hours of easy pedaling.
