200 Families Celebrate MLK's Life & Accomplishments

In spite of the single digit temperatures, nearly 200 families came out this past Monday to celebrate the life and accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.!  Ice skating and Northside Urban Pathway's steel drum band were highlights of the day, but the artists stole the show with their interactive art including weaving, batiking, singing/storytelling, and clay crafts. Azizi Powell keynoted the event with an interactive speech, bring participants together in a truly unique experience.

Thanks to all our sponsors: Dominion, Pittsburgh Citiparks for the free ice skating, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts for coordinating the artists and REI, as well as East End Food Co-op, East End Food Co-op, and Whole Foods for their food donations.  Thanks also goes out to Councilman Bill Peduto for making an appearance at the event!

We could not have done this without you!
