STEELER FANS IN WITHDRAWAL, OTHER RECREATION OFFERED
Venture Outdoors offers a hike on Steeler bye week

(Pittsburgh, PA - October 2, 2007) - When the Steelers are not playing on a Sunday, residents of the Greater Pittsburgh area hit a steel curtain.

Many fans will start to wonder what they did on previous Sundays instead of watch football games. Just what will they do on bye week, October 14?

Venture Outdoors has the answer.

A special hike is planned on Sunday, October 14 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The group will hike from Mullin's Diner in Millvale along the riverfront trail to Heinz Field and learn about the incredible history of the North Shore.

Upon arriving at Heinz Field, a drawing will be held for a special Steeler give-away.

Steeler fans of any age are welcome. Physical difficulty is at level easy. Cost is $10 for members and $18 for non-members.

To register for the Steeler Withdrawal Hike, or for any events, those interested need only call the Venture Outdoors office at 412.255.0564 or visit the Web site, where there is a complete listing of programs, at www.ventureoutdoors.org.

Venture Outdoors, a non-profit organization, seeks to transform the Pittsburgh region into a place where the outdoors is an integral part of our culture, our identity and our lifestyle. Venture Outdoors does this by increasing participation in outdoor recreational activity. This in turn creates a sense of community among participants, an increased awareness of the region's excellent quality of life, and a better understanding of and deeper appreciation for the environment and wilderness among the residents of and visitors to western Pennsylvania.
