What We Do In The Community

Youth Programs

In partnership with schools, after-school centers, and summer camp providers our youth programming is designed to get kids outside in their neighborhoods in an easy, fun and structured way. The goal is to help youth fall in love with the outdoors through exciting and engaging activities. Kids are using the outdoors as their classroom – having fun while learning about recreation, nature, and stewardship. They can be found fishing along the North Shore, kayaking at our Kayak Pittsburgh locations, hiking through local parks and green spaces, biking along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail, and more!

With the help of sponsors, donors, and local foundations Venture Outdoors provides these programs at little or no cost to our partners.

Adaptive Programs

Venture Outdoors is committed to creating opportunities that allow everyone, including those with physical limitations, the chance to experience how incredibly fun the outdoors can be. Our adaptive paddling program strengthens community through education, training, and hands-on experience. Trip Leaders work directly with individuals to learn what boat modifications are necessary to enable them to paddle outdoors.

Stewardship Programs

Looking for a way to enjoy your local natural areas while simultaneously giving back to the community? In an effort to “give back” to the environment we enjoy exploring, Venture Outdoors Stewardship Trips provide participants the chance to experience the outdoors in a new, more meaningful way. Throughout the year, from cleanup paddles to trail maintenance, we work hard to cultivate the connection between enjoying the outdoors and keeping our region’s waterways clean and trails maintained.
