Age-Friendly Intergenerational Walk in North Park with Lead Interpretive Naturalist Margaret Scanlon
October 16 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Free
It’s a seasonal discovery of what is happening outdoors this time of year. The plants and animals are getting ready for winter, so there’s lots of activity to see as we walk through the park.
Join the Lead Interpretive Naturalist Margaret Scanlon and the outdoor enthusiasts Donna and Joe Brosky in a low-impact walk in the Allegheny County North Park.
Margaret Scanlon coordinates the Latodami Nature Center for the Allegheny County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Conservation. Located in North Park, Latodami Nature Center covers approximately 250 acres and includes fields, forests, ponds, wetlands, and stream habitats with a series of nature trails. Margaret enjoys sharing her love and knowledge of nature with the public, earning the nickname “the living encyclopedia.”
Donna and Joe Brosky grew up near North Park and now live in Laurel Hill Mountain. They keep busy in retirement, enjoying outdoor activities such as hiking and wildflower identification/photography. They recently finished visiting 124 Pennsylvania State Parks and 20 State Forests, which they started five years ago. They visit a national park with their kids and grandchildren every year and go on an international hiking trip.
This outing will be a slow-paced walk, perfect for people with wheelchairs, strollers, or walkers. People of all abilities, including older adults and children, are welcome.
Bring water and your lunch.
