EveryBody Outdoors Series: You Belong Here

People of every size, shape, and weight deserve the chance to experience the amazing benefits of time spent outdoors with others. Venture Outdoors welcomes active folks in larger bodies to get outside this year through its series of size-friendly outings, at a pace that is safe and comfortable for each person. Each trip listing will give you the information you need to decide if the outing is right for you: active time and pace, general route and terrain, and if any experience is needed. You can look forward to a variety of monthly activities throughout the year, all in a positive and welcoming atmosphere in which we will celebrate all shapes and sizes. Sharpsburg Paddles and Pints

We’ll return to Sharpsburg in August for a little longer paddle that ends with a pint! We will paddle from 60 to 90 minutes, dependent on the needs of the participants that day, covering a little more than 2 miles. After our equipment has been put away, you’re invited to head down the street to Dancing Gnome, where we will treat you to a pint for a paddle well done!

Efficient paddling focuses on upper-body and core strength, which is needed to propel you through the water. The pace will be leisurely but paddling through river currents will test your strength and stamina! You will get wet from the paddle moving across the deck.

Water to drink, snacks to power you through, hats for your head, and appropriate footwear are recommended. Solo kayaks are best for participants 325-pounds or under, while those 350-plus would be better served in a tandem kayak. Previous paddle experience is recommended. You may wish to bring a change of clothes for Dancing Gnome.
