Pride Outside

Are you a member of the LGBTQ Community looking to meet others and spend time hiking in the woods of Western PA? Join Volunteer Trip Leader, Bili O’Hara (they/them), as they lead hikes while celebrating the joy of queer identity. 

We will challenge ourselves on this progressive series of hiking trips throughout Allegheny County that will culminate in an optional weekend backpacking trip in the Laurel Highlands. Day hikes will range in distance from 5 to 10 miles at a pace covering ~1 mile in 25 minutes. Hikes will include significant elevation gains with uneven and rough terrain.  

This is an inclusive space for LGBTQIA+ individuals to spend time outdoors and find community. Some experience hiking is recommended. Participants should be prepared to bring snacks, water, and sturdy shoes. We recommend hiking poles if you have knee issues or plan to bring a larger day pack on outings. We do our best to estimate the timing of each event, but they may require more or less time than indicated depending on various factors. Emerald View Park

Did you know that a continuous 257 acres of green, hilly woods ring the neighborhood of Mount Washington? Explore the wooded hillsides, winding trails, and gorgeous vistas of Emerald View Park. We will cover about 6.5 miles on uneven trail terrain with a significant amount of climbing. Previous hiking experience is required.
