Testing Bike Loop Calling all cyclists! Whether you’re an experienced biker or you’re new to the cycling community, our Beginner Bike Ride Series has got something for you!
Each of the outings in this unique 4-part cycling series begins with a half hour classroom session with Joe Harkiewicz and Ian Dudas, followed by a group bike ride on Pittsburgh’s Riverfront trails. Every week in the classroom we’ll learn some bike maintenance tricks and then head out for a ride which will grow progressively more intense with every session.
In Session 1 our knowledgeable trip leaders will discuss the parts of your bike and how they interact with one another, helping you better understand this simple machine. Participants will then embark on a 6-mile cycle on the Three Rivers Heritage Trail.
insideSession 2 will cover how to change a flat tire, and conclude with an 8-mile ride along the Riverfront.
Session 3 focuses on general bike maintenance; how to keep your bike running smoothly and functioning properly with just a few simple tricks. The outing after this lesson will be about 10 miles long and a bit more strenuous than the previous two.
To conclude the series, in Session 4 we’ll spend a half hour learning about the benefits of some basic biking gear, and our experienced trip leaders will share a few tricks to improve your cycling experience. Following the classroom talk, Joe and Ian will lead the final outing, a 12-mile adventure along the Riverfront Trails.
This series is FREE for Venture Outdoors members in honor of Bike Fest Pittsburgh!
