Summer Birding

Let’s go on a birding adventure!

Many of the species appended below are migratory, but you may see Red-tailed Hawks, Yellow-bellied sapsuckers, Piliated, Hairy, Blue Jays, Dark-eyed Junco, Chickadees, Cardinals, Wild Turkey, Mockingbird, Bluebirds, Downy, Hairy, Kingfisher, White Throated Sparrows, Towhee, Titmouse, Crow, Robin, Song Sparrow, Goldfinch and Red Bellied Woodpecker.

We may also see a Brown Thrasher or Wood Duck, Baltimore Oriole, Peewee, Tanager, Catbird, Cuckoo, Indigo Bunting. Flycatcher, Wood Thrush.

Expect to cover 2-4 miles, depending on the group. Bring your binoculars and bottled water! Hiking boots are preferred, in case it’s muddy, however comfortable walking shoes would be okay.  Camera is optional.

We will be joined by Ray Morris, one of the volunteers at the Irwin Run Conservation Area.  Ray is a Master Naturalist and Birder, and will help introduce us to the marvelous birds that live along this beautiful creek.
