Kayak Pittsburgh 2015 Season In Review

It’s hard to believe that we’re already closed for the season and that we’re starting to plan for 2016. The 2015 Kayak Pittsburgh season started off with a bang in May and then slowed due to all the rain we received in mid-June through mid-July (unsafe kayaking conditions which were up to 3x our maximum water flow rate – yes, that’s a lot of rain!). However, the rain didn’t last too long and as the summer months passed, we were delighted with the wonderful weather and sunny days. We were even able to send kayaks out on the water clear through the middle of October!
Kayak Pittsburgh’s popularity as an outdoor recreation amenity in the area has grown tremendously over the past several years and we couldn’t do it without you! This season over 35,489 hours of boating were enjoyed between our two locations and we put a total of 48,509 kayakers out on the water to enjoy the benefits of outdoor recreation. But as you know, we’re not just about kayaking! At North Park we also offer canoes, pedal boats, rowboats, and stand-up paddleboards.
21954778993_855424ae47_kWe’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for making 2015 a record-setting season! We’ve never had so many people out on the water and we couldn’t be happier. Thank you for coming out to kayak, bringing your friends and family and spreading the word about your positive experiences. Next year we will host an exciting number of new additions at Kayak Pittsburgh, but you’ll have to wait to find out what. We can’t wait to see you on the water in 2016!
