Allisa Powell is going into her sophomore year of high school at Obama Academy. She loves to get outdoors and sees herself as a very active person.
“My favorite thing to do outside is taking walks and just being out in the sun. I love being out with my dogs and playing with them. I love running, this school year I am going to run track for my school.”
As one of our Summer Learn & Earn students, Alissa wanted to share her tips for self care and self improvement.
People always want to improve themselves for the better. So here are a few ways you can do that on a daily basis! It’s almost like a bucket list. You can do it overtime or asap. You can improve your look, attitude or both! Ways to improve your mental state are:
- Stop taking things personally
- Admit your mistakes
- Refine your goals
- Believe in yourself
- Find yourself
These are just a few ways you can make yourself feel better and be better. You can let go of the bad things in your life or make amends with friends if needed. Sometimes saying sorry to people can go a long way for people and fix things between you and a friend. You can also start to make new goals in life to have something to accomplish. Reach for some higher purpose. Go for something beyond what you can do. Always believe in yourself and stay positive.
Ways to improve your physical state are:
- Get enough sleep
- Eat healthy and nutritious foods
- Exercise regularly
- Be self confident and motivated
- Take care of personal hygiene
Not getting enough sleep can show signs of aging, so make sure you get 7-8 hours of sleep a day. If you do not get enough nutrients you can start to look pale. Exercising keeps your body in shape and good health. Your appearance also depends on your mood, so if you’re in a good mood, your appearance will be good. Always take care of your personal hygiene. It’s something you should take care of daily.
