People of every size, shape, and weight deserve the chance to experience the amazing benefits of time spent outdoors with others. Venture Outdoors welcomes active folks in larger bodies to get outside this year through its series of size-friendly outings, at a pace that is safe and comfortable for each person. Each trip listing will give you the information you need to decide if the outing is right for you: active time and pace, general route and terrain, and if any experience is needed. You can look forward to a variety of monthly activities throughout the year, all in a positive and welcoming atmosphere in which we will celebrate all shapes and sizes. Frick Park Hot Cocoa Hike

Join us for what is sure to be a beautiful winter hike through Pittsburgh’s Frick Park. This moderate-intensity hike along the woodland trails will cover approximately 3 miles over 90 minutes of active time. There will be hills, which we will slowly climb, taking breaks as needed. We will end our outing with a warming cup of hot cocoa! It will be chilly, so dress appropriately in layers for warmth, with footwear and cold-weather accessories sufficient for the day’s weather conditions. Hiking poles will help you get up the inclines but not necessary. Though it will be cold, you may still sweat. Water is always recommended to stop dehydration. Be sure to fuel yourself appropriately before getting outside.
