1. @UnlikelyHikers

Unlikely Hikers was the main inspiration for this Blog post. This account was created by Jenny Bruso who identifies as “femme, queer, fat, mid-thirties, writer, Unlikely Hiker,” on her website. Her main goal is to create spaces for everyone to feel comfortable with getting outside.

2. @theventureoutproject

The Venture Out Project is based in New England and the Pacific Northwest. At Venture Out, they organize hiking trips for queer and transgender people looking to get outside. They also provide transgender inclusion workshops for anyone looking to learn more about the queer community.

3. @Sheonthefly

Who said fishing was only for men? Not these amazing women from @Sheonthefly that share their catch of the day!

4. @browngirlsclimb

Brown Girls Climb creates spaces for women of color to feel accepted and part of the climbing community. Very inspiring. Check out there website here!

5. @Latinooutdoors

Latino Outdoors is an organization that focuses on cultura y familia as part of their  outdoor narrative. Their aim is to ensure that the history, heritage, and leadership are being represented.

6. @curvykilicrew

This is an inspiring body positive page, created by 20 women who hiked Mt. Kilimanjaro on National Women’s Day this year! They post inspiring body positive quotes and remind us that going out side doesn’t have a weight requirement. Read their story here!

Pattie Gonia is an outdoor Queen breaking down stereotypes one hike in heels at a time! Don’t believe me? Read this cool article about Pattie Gonia from Vogue. Not only are her posts inspiring, but she does it in heels… AMAZING!

Inspiring Black outdoor leadership LEGGO! Use their #outdoorafro and get involved in the community!

9. @blackgirlsdobike

Black Girls Do Bike have several chapter all over the country, with one right here in Pittsburgh! The shero is Monica Garrison, check out the BGDB Pittsburgh Facebook page here!

The Queer Climbing Collective is LGBTQ+ friendly account. Their mission is to connect people in the LGBTQ+ community through climbing events and their passion for the outdoors. Use the #sendwithpride to connect with them!

Climbers of Color is a non-profit organization in Washington States, that works to diversify the outdoors by providing mentorships, financial scholarships and training to people of all colors. Learn more about them here!

Brown People Camping is an account run by Ambreen Tariq a proud South Asian-Muslim-American-Woman sharing stories of the outdoors and the unrepresented people getting outside! Share your story with her by using the #BrownPeopleCamping

Need some inspiration and motivation to get outside, follow Disabled Hikers! They share hiking guides for disabled hikers and create a community outdoors accessible to anyone!

If you’re bike friendly, a biker yourself, or just think biking is cool, you should definitely be following Bikepgh and see all the progress they’re making with open streets!

17. @visitpittsburgh

Visit Pittsburgh is a great source for everything happening in Pittsburgh, from outdoor adventures, indoor eats, eclectic art, and community based events. This page bleeds black and gold, as well as quality Pittsburgh content!

Pittsburgh Park Rangers are looking out for our city’s beautiful parks, as well as sharing stunning pictures of the parks too! Follow them to see the different recreational activities they offer, as well as a plethora of plants, animals, and smiling people!

Mike Glass (OthodoxCaveman) is a Pennsylvania Hiker and is the perfect account to follow if you want some sweet eye candy of the beautiful nature Pennsylvania has to offer. 

20. @kayakpittsburgh

National Geographic Travel posts great pictures from all over. Great way to freshen your feed with stunning travel photography.

22. @hipcamp

If you don’t already have a bad case of FOMO, you will after following Hipcamp, the best account for yummy eye candy camping sites. You want to camp here, I want to camp here, let’s all go follow Hipcamp to see the rad camp cites everyone wants to stay at!

The Out Bound Collective is another great photography account for the outdoors! Drool over these gorgeous nature shots!

Parks Project is another inspiring account that uses its profits to help conserve our nation’s parks. They also have some really great photos of those parks all over their account page. Buy some cool gear from them, and help save the parks!

25. @campingwithdogs

And the best for last… Camping with Dogs! If you love the outdoors and you love dogs, this account is the best of both worlds. See how the pups camp, and see how they’ll melt your heart. Camping with Dogs really knows how to ruff it! 😉
